According to Wikipedia, “antojitos are a type of street food that is usually eaten as an aperitif.” They are usually made “based on corn, high in fat (often fried) and accompanied by a chili sauce, and it is generally part of a fast and informal meal.”
With the arrival of Europeans to American lands, other ingredients such as wheat, pork, lettuce, among others, were introduced to our gastronomy.
